Which Kind of Book Reader Are You?

Which Kind of Book Reader Are You?

Are you a book lover? Do you follow your own unique style while reading books? Maybe readers don’t bother themselves with these questions. But someone took the initiative to divide book readers into a few types. If you are a certified bookworm, then it’s time for you to move to the next level. That is to categorize yourself as a distinguished book reader. You will be surprised to know book readers can be categorized into more than 20 types that are too based on different criteria. So, let’s find out which book reader you are.

The book hoarder:

If you are a book hoarder, then you are simply obsessed with books. You can’t help but overweight your bookshelf every month. Genre isn’t that much of a fact to you. But you may have a little problem with finishing all those books. Guess that makes you a bookaholic?

The book sniffer:

Do you have bibliosmia? When every time you open a book and you feel this irresistible urge to take a sniff, that’s bibliosmia. Some readers are specifically attracted to the smell of old books, that includes me. If you are a book sniffer, rainy day with a cup of coffee and the smell of your favourite book can be the perfect combo.

The genre hopper:

This breed of bibliographs amazes me though I don’t actually wish to become one. The genre hoppers, justifying their title, jump from genre to genre. So, they can open themselves to an infinite choice of books. From thrillers to melodrama, from fiction to non-fiction and from history to fantasy, a genre hopper doesn’t get tired. So, are you quite the hopper or are you loyal to your favourite genre?

The fickle reader:

You can say the fickle reader is a special kind of genre hopper. Like the previous type, they are quite adventurous but with a twist. A fickle reader gathers books like an ant stores food before winter, but when he starts to read them, he loses interest quickly. As a result, the pile of half-finished books is never-ending.

The midnight owl reader:

This type of reader really doesn’t care about genres. What they do is getting lost in the world of books when everyone is lost in their dreams. The serene night atmosphere feels cozier with their favourite book in hand. The midnight owl readers are occasional liars too. If you are one, then be honest. How many times have you lied to yourself saying ‘This is the last chapter.’?

The self-help reader:

It’s kinda easy to recognize a self-help reader once you reach his or her bookshelf. All those self-growth and motivational books will give them away. Self-help readers are concerned with developing in every aspect of their life, and the books are their lifetime friends. Recently, different types of readers are also appreciating many self-help books. Sometimes, you should too sneak a peek into the pages of ‘Atomic Habits’ or ‘The art of being alone.’

The non-fiction reader:

If there were ever a battle between different genre lovers, the non-fiction readers would have the upper hand in winning. Because their immense knowledge about the practical world could surpass all other war strategies. A non-fictions reader’s book list is as diverse as his curious mind. Sociology, economy, politics, life science and many other fields are explored by these readers. If you are a pure fiction lover, every now and then, reading non-fictions like ‘Factfulness’ or ‘In Cold Blood’ wouldn’t hurt.

So, which type of reader are you? Just a little reminder, there are many other types that may suit your reading style. What you need to remember is no matter the type, you will always be a reader. And a reader should never put him or herself in a box. Because one book a day opens the door to a new way.
